Stair Remodel

Stairs to a new attic conversion were designed to work with the home as the vertical connector of 3 floors. All of the railing materials in the 1903 home were made from framing removed and salvaged for the stairwell - clear, vertical grain Douglas Fir and redwood from some used doors -- all with a natural Tung Oil finish.

The railing at the landing uses turned spindles from an 1871 Farmhouse in nearby Yuba City that was built by the homeowner's great, great grandfather. The old home was slated for demolition and eventually was destroyed by fire, but this home was able to incorporate stair parts, a transom window and oak flooring -- all salvaged prior to the fire.
