Basement Remodel
What was once a glorified crawl space with a dirt floor is now an in-law apartment, with its own entrance, kitchen, bath and laundry. It is currently used as a game room and place to watch movies.
The pellet stove is an efficient heater, the only source of heat for the cool basement is at the lowest point in the house. Note the copper water pipes to the left of the stove that also heat water for the hydronic systems in the house. The slab was stained and lacquered and windows added to brighten up the space. Thickened walls house the structural retaining walls of the foundation, supporting 3 floors above.
