What used to be a utility space off of the kitchen, a powder room is now located for convenience and use by guests.

This small ledge is a practical detail that the architect likes to use with pedestal sinks. It provides a surface for toiletry items and was created with a furred out wall that allowed piping below to circumvent a structural member.
