A new dream kitchen is born out of a disjointed series of odd shaped rooms and badly worn surfaces.

A view to the stairwell shows the passages both downstairs and up that connect the 4 levels of the home. The upstairs bedroom residents can "wake up and smell the coffee" -- it's also a way to communicate readily without having to shout or utilize an intercom. The rich textures of the kitchen are all on display here - brick, vetrazzo counters (made from recycled glass) and an echo of the stair grill was picked up in the "courtroom style" bar stool backs and a repeat use of honed marble subway tile for the backsplash.
